Thank you to First Lutheran Church! Those who have given a cup of cold water...
who pray for members of the Church, the neighborhood, and people around the world
who drive people to worship
who bake bread, bars, and goodies for coffee hour, funeral lunches, and gatherings
who garden and share their produce
who make and send cards to the homebound, those experiencing crises, and celebrating joys
who visit the sick and call those who can no longer come to worship regularly
who pick up trash around church and wherever they find it
who have come to Bay Lake Camp to rake, clean, build, cook, and fix things
who clean, mow, change the paraments, order flowers, and rearrange the furniture at First
who show up and gather together to eat, listen, laugh, cry, pray, and support each other
who literally give cups of cold water and distribute food to those who need it
who give money to support the work and ministry of First Lutheran and Bay Lake Camp
who support young people by learning their names and affirming their gifts
who embrace in radical welcome those LGBT persons who are still discriminated against
who fight the injustices of race, economy, sexual orientation, and gender imbalance
who wrestle against religious inequality by getting to know those of other religions
who pass the peace in both quiet and loud ways
who read the Bible to seek the wisdom of the ages
who go outside of their comfort zone to welcome everyone
who sit with those who hurt
who find ways to love and forgive over a lifetime
who push swings and play with children
who open car doors and walk with those who need help
who love even when the love is not returned
who hold onto their childlike selves and play
who say "I'm sorry" and "I love you" when its needed
who see beauty in creation - rainbows, sunrises, sunsets, wind, grass and yes, rain
who draw, paint, sculpt, woodwork, weld, mold, cook, garden, design, sew, and build
who play instruments, sing, act, write poetry, write stories, and read out loud
who strike up conversations with strangers and friends alike
who help visitors follow along in worship and welcome them
who work hard to learn the names of those they meet
who offer elders their seat on the bus
who pay for the person in front of you in line at the drive through
who send cards and notes of encouragement
who care for animals and walk their dogs or other people's dogs
who clean bathrooms, vacuum, dust, scrub, and paint
who give away clothes and household items that are no longer needed
who say "thank you" a thousand times a day as encouragement and love
and the list goes on........Added May 21, 2017 by Dave Doffing - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
The church I grew up going to...was baptized here, had my first communion, confirmed, I was also President of Junior Mission, in the handbell choir, camp counselor... not to mention my regular involvement in many other aspects. I only wish I could still be apart of this amazig congregation!!! If I didnt move 1200 miles away... My kids would grow up going there as well!!! I LOVE FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH & ALL OF ITS WONDERFUL PEOPLE!!!

Okay, I am a bit biased - this is my church home. It is a truly open and loving place for all to come worship. We believe firmly that we are all sinners and all saints - that God is about welcoming and loving, not about judging. We have an active church - supporting so many different programs - and a warm and wondeful congregation. The church service is neither traditional and stuffy nor contemporary happy-Jesus-music. It is all about worshipping our Lord in an authentic and non-threatening manner. Come join us! All are welcome.
